Dea Matrona are just coming to the end of the fifteen date For Your Sins UK/Irish tour, with Dublin being the second last night of said tour.
Dea Matrona turned up the volume last night in the Workmans Club and crammed us all up front and centre to rock out in an intimate epic show.
Tones and grooves like Band Of Skullz but as if Stevie Nicks was the lead singer. Sometimes hitting on Miley Cyrus/ Dolly Parton esque vocals on tracks like Glory, Glory and Wilderness but with an edgy raw vibe like Courtney love’s LA band ‘Hole’.
Honestly before the gig I stuck on their album “For your Sins” which was released earlier this year and after like, the 5th round of listening to it, I couldn’t stop thinking “why are the girls playing in such a small venue like the Workman’s”.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this venue and what better way to see them than in an intimate gig like this, but my god could their sound fill out such a bigger venue in Dublin.
Button factory or 3Olympia I can picture so well. But hey! Obviously that’s the goal for next year and I can’t wait for it.
Tracks like “Stamp on it” and “Red Button” had me rocking all day in the office and I/we were not let down because these tracks live are just whopper bangers! Crowd hoppin’ like ecstasy fuelled bunny’s and the energy on stage was addictive!
The vocals on both girls are top top tier. Harmonies that are just intertwining together so beautifully, you just can’t help but “attempt” to hit each note yourself pretending to be as cool as the duo.
With odes to Classic & Garage Rock all over the place, my musical heart was filled last night with Dea Matrona.
The Psychs came out to warm us up first providing us with full on Mötley Crüe vibez.
