Dave Lofts – returns with powerful new single “Drunk”

Following an incredible 12 months that saw him sell out headline shows across Ireland, tour with Wolf Alice, and perform to over 50,000 people supporting The Wolfe Tones, Irish singer-songwriter Dave Lofts is back with his most personal release yet — “Drunk”.

The track marks a new chapter for Lofts, delving deep into a period of his life overshadowed by addiction and self-destruction, told through his signature raw and soulful storytelling.

‘Drunk’ is about a time in my life when alcoholism was at its full effect — loving somebody so much but having bad habits too. The partner putting up with the man’s bad habit is only affecting her, hence the line ‘what’s gonna kill me is gonna kill you.’ It’s a nod to the reality of alcohol abuse, to wanting help, and to accepting the problem.

Equal parts confessional and cathartic, “Drunk” showcases Lofts’ unflinching honesty and ability to turn lived experience into art that resonates deeply. It’s a song that sits in the emotional territory of artists like Sam Fender and Dermot Kennedy — unvarnished, heartfelt, and unforgettable.

Lofts’ journey has been nothing short of remarkable — from serving in the Irish Army to achieving a No.1 Independent Album, and amassing millions of views on TikTok with his emotionally charged performances. His authenticity and connection with fans continue to set him apart as one of Ireland’s most compelling new voices.

The single also arrives as Dave celebrates signing with B-Unique MusicB-Unique one of the most successful independent record labels and publishing companies in the UK, having achieved countless hits, billions of streams, and multiple No.1 singles and albums across the globe. Their roster and collaborators include global superstars such as Charli XCX, Clean Bandit, David Guetta, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, The Kaiser Chiefs, James Bay, and Primal Scream….

Founded and run by Martin and Mark, the label has long been known not only for its commercial success but also for its sharp instinct in discovering and developing exceptional Irish talent. With both Martin and Mark deep Irish roots B-Unique has been the driving force behind the phenomenal success of Irish band Kodaline, as well as the meteoric rise of Kingfishr, whose debut album entered the Irish Albums Chart at No.1 and whose single spent an incredible ten consecutive weeks at No.1 on the Irish Singles Chart.

Now, B-Unique continues its mission to champion Irish music with the signing of Dave Lofts, positioned as their breakout artist for 2026 — a talent set to follow in the footsteps of Ireland’s finest musical exports.
