On the hottest day of the year, Geoff’s in Waterford was absolutely buzzing for Crow Black Chicken’s return.
The back area of the venue was jammed with people who came for some loud, gritty blues rock. And that’s exactly what they got. Crow Black Chicken didn’t hold back for a second, ripping through their set with melting guitar solos, and enough volume that a few pint glasses got rattled. Everyone was on the same page here, well.. unless you were the group who legged it after one song, the noise (or the heat) clearly wasn’t for them. Either way they missed out.
Opening up the night were local Waterford band Porcelain Eyes, and it was brilliant to see them draw a solid crowd. Knowing personally the dedication some of their members have poured into the project, it was genuinely rewarding to see them kick off the night with such energy.
Crow Black Chicken are currently touring their latest release, Ghost Dance, which we’ve recently reviewed on this site. Next up on the tours Irish dates is Chicken Stock 2025 in Clonmel on July 19th, followed by Armagh on August 1st. Their full schedule can be found over on their socials or their site. Get down to a gig if you get the chance!
