Conan Gray – the Wishbone World Tour, live gallery and review from 3Arena Dublin 05.05.26

The Wishbone Tour was back in full swing at the 3Arena on Tuesday night. Following a stretch of dates in the U.S and a two month hiatus, Conan Gray came back to stage fully re-charged. It had been almost four years since his last appearance here at 3Olympia, like he had recognised a room of old friends, he was all smiles from the off.

What we witnessed could maybe be labelled half theatre, half concert. Some extravagant intro visuals drew us into Conan’s world. We met a group of sailors (the band) on an unknown shoreline before Conan himself rocked up on his bicycle in matching gear to greet us. The stage was designed in the shape of a wishbone with two runways – of which Conan made use of liberally. He’s always had a knack for making a room feel smaller than it is.

The setlist was well balanced with hits new and old. “Maniac” goes down so well in the arena setting with a full singalong. Quieter moments with tracks like “Heather” and “Family Line” even triggered tears for some in the front row. For others it was simply a chance to catch a much needed breath. The unrestrained energy being bounced back and forth between Conan and the fans throughout the night made it something far more memorable than your average gig. The show will undoubtedly go down as one of the highlights of the year for the arena.

Long time fan AJ summed it up afterwards: “Conan’s gig tonight was out of this world. I noticed he really has a strong connection with his fans and tried to make it as intimate as possible. I loved how he had an all-female band and just the show he put on itself. The fans really went all out with their outfits and we all had the best night”!
