Calum Agnew will play a headline show in The Grand Social Dublin on Friday, 27 Feb. MacSteady are supporting so it’ll be a lovely jazz/soulpop infused night!
He’s also dropping his debut EP “Bad Boy” and the title track on the same day.
Backed by his seven-piece band and dynamic backing singers, the EP showcases a sound as reminiscent of Amy Winehouse as it is of Adele, blending heartfelt emotion with soulful depth through Callum Agnew’s instantly recognisable and unique vocal tone. Highlighting his immense talent and radiant potential, Agnew shines as a vocalist, songwriter, and performer. Across the five-track release, rich arrangements of piano, guitar, and brass intertwine with driving bass and drums, layering subtle jazz undertones beneath Agnew’s luminous lead performances.
From the infectious energy of previous singles like ‘LALALA’ and ‘Anymore’ to the swaying sass of the new title track ‘Bad Boy’, the EP bursts with self-determination, musicality, and emotional resonance.
Talking about the EP Calum explains:
“Bad Boy is a collection of songs that captures my transition from late adolescence into young adulthood. It reflects my attempts to navigate desire, self-doubt, and vulnerability while exploring the relationships around me as a gay man. The EP tells a story of unresolved love in all its complexity, emotions I’m still attempting to understand.”
