Bleech 9:3 – have shared the new single ‘Jacky’

Bleech 9:3 today share their second ever single ‘Jacky’. The Irish four-piece, fresh off an extensive run of dates with Keo, are currently on tour with Shame. The band’s recently announced three back-to-back London headline shows all sold out within 18 minutes. Their debut Dublin show also sold out instantly, even before the band released their debut single. Full dates below.

Headed up by Baz Quinlan (vocals/guitar) and Sam Duffy (guitar) – the pair met at AA, where Baz became Sam’s sponsor. The moved from Dublin to London together in 2024. “I think the vulnerability of those meetings helped us be a lot more comfortable with each other from the get go” they say about these first recordings.

Jacky followsdebut single Ceiling, which was released last month and received widespread acclaim from the likes of Dork, So Young and Kerrang!

On the new single, Jacky, Baz says-

To me it is in part about my own life and in part the lives of those with whom I shared the illness of drug addiction with as a young person back home in Dublin. Though it is not specifically about being an addict, that’s just one way people lose themselves and too often their lives. I’m talking about that loss and the difficulty with understanding it.”

Up until recently, Baz and Sam were booking shows in London for which the other band members (James and Luke) – would fly over. Eventually, the two Dublin based members were given a timeframe to make the move to London, or be replaced. The two of them arrived in London on the final day of that ultimatum. The nature of Baz and Sam’s introductions, and the vulnerability of those initial AA meetings, helped the two establish an unusual frankness and openness for a relationship so young. They started writing together pretty much instantly, branding their all-night writing sessions as feeling like “secret musical affairs”.

Jacky is out now on Ra-Ra Rok Records (Wu-Lu, The Goa Express, Bingo Fury). More to come from Bleech 9:3 very soon.
