London-based musician and multi-disciplinary artist Natasha Khan – aka Bat For Lashes – today announces a special EP of 5 tracks of harp reimaginings, drawn from her acclaimed sixth studio album ‘The Dream Of Delphi’, out December 6th via acclaimed label Mercury KX. After seeing globally acclaimed harpist Lara Somogyi perform in London earlier this year, Natasha was inspired to incorporate the harp into alternate arrangements of tracks from her new album. Eventually the pair duetted in Kingston’s St John’s Church at the Dream of Delphi launch show, and Natasha visited Lara’s home studio in Joshua Tree this summer to arrange the full 5 track EP and 5 accompanying instrumental versions. The result is a truly ethereal listening experience, bringing the album’s deeply personal lyrics into even sharper relief against an expansive, ambient backdrop. The final two tracks on the EP feature poetry written by Natasha as part of her album film, and featured in her acclaimed live performances, including a sold out show at the Barbican earlier this year.
“It was really fun working with Lara on this collection of songs to recreate something so musically improvised and all over the place.” explains Natasha; “Lara brought her own beautiful versions of the piano chords to the studio, and when she played them I was so touched it made me cry to hear it. So pure and vulnerable.”
