BASED Music Festival is Ireland’s first of its kind—designed to make live music more inclusive and accessible for young artists and fans. This groundbreaking event shines a spotlight on the next generation of indie rock talent, bringing together some of the most exciting emerging artists from across the country.
Bringing the best of young emerging artists Based Festival will take place in The Button Factory, Dublin on the 14th of April 2025.
Expect top-tier production, mind-blowing light shows, and an atmosphere like no other! Presented by Fluttertone, champions of independent music in Ireland for nearly a decade, BASED is more than just a festival—it’s a movement.
As Fluttertone’s director, Colm, says: “I’ve seen so much talent from bands that can’t get opportunities because they’re not 18.”
This festival is about breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and bringing young music lovers together in a safe, exciting space.

The Hex – The Hex are an alternative rock band from Dublin, Ireland, making waves with their electrifying performances and bilingual songwriting. Consisting of lead singer Caoimhe Garvin, lead guitarist Katie Moran, bassist and pianist Helen McCarthy, and drummer Peas Kelly, the group is dedicated to amplifying women’s voices in rock and punk while incorporating the Irish language into their music. Since making their live debut in the summer of 2022, they have played across Dublin, releasing their debut single Ethanol in 2024, followed by Charlie in November of the same year.
URBAN HOURS – Formed in 2022 in the coastal town of Bettystown, Urban Hours are a four-piece indie rock band blending classic and modern influences. Taking inspiration from Oasis, The Beatles, Her’s, and The Cure, their sound balances high-energy anthems with heartfelt lyricism. With an electrifying stage presence, Urban Hours continue to captivate audiences and establish themselves as a must-see act on the Irish music scene.
THE SWINGS – The Swings are an emerging indie pop-rock band from Dublin, quickly gaining traction with their infectious melodies and high-energy performances. Their anthemic tracks, including Lost In Us and Hopeless Heart, showcase their ability to craft songs that resonate with audiences. With an undeniable stage presence, The Swings are a band to watch as they make their mark on the music scene.
Robert Mulligan – Dublin-based singer-songwriter Robert Mulligan crafts a dynamic mix of pop and rock, influenced by Inhaler, The Neighbourhood, and Fontaines D.C. Known for his sharp lyricism and infectious melodies, his songwriting has drawn comparisons to Noel Gallagher. Whether delivering heavy-hitting, emotional tracks or upbeat dance-worthy anthems, his performances are full of energy and surprises. Mulligan has also gained a strong following on TikTok, where he shares covers and teasers of his original music.
Joycult – Hailing from Kilkenny and Wexford, Joycult are a fierce, female-fronted punk band making waves in the Irish rock scene. Blending elements of classic punk, indie rock, and hardcore, their electrifying performances have lit up iconic venues like Dublin’s Grand Social and Waterford’s Bank Lane. With undeniable energy and a rebellious spirit, Joycult is quickly becoming a standout act.
Stick N Poke – Formed in 2024, Stick N’ Poke are a hard-hitting rock band from Wicklow. Founded by lead guitarist Sam Burke and vocalist Tadhg Conway, the lineup was soon completed with Darragh Emerson on bass and Zak Hastie on drums. Known for their raw, high-energy sound, Stick N’ Poke are a fresh force in the Irish rock scene.
Mollie – Mollie is an all-girl rock band bringing a fresh and electrifying energy to the stage. Formed in August 2024, the group features Giada Erin on bass and vocals, Alice Kent and Luisa Azevedo on guitar, and Claudia Preston on drums. Since their formation, they have been making waves with their powerful performances and infectious sound.
