banríon, the musical project of Irish songwriter Róisín Ní Haicéid, shares ‘You & i’, the final single from her debut album Untarnishing, coming out this Friday 16 October 2026.
Coming out this Friday 16th October, Untarnishing marks a significant new chapter for banríon. Beginning in 2020 as a DIY indie-rock band, banríon quickly made their mark on the Dublin music scene with two acclaimed EP’s, landing support slots with NewDad, Lime Garden and Pillow Queens alongside performances at festivals such as All Together Now and Other Voices.
This albummarks a departure from a ‘blazing indie rock’ sound (as described by Hot Press), to turn a gentler cheek. This softer sound was in part inspired by songwriting workshops with Adrianne Lenker and Florist, as well as the transition from a band to a solo project. The recordis a sonic and lyrical mix that reveals banríon’s musical range and evolution.
Speaking about the album, banríon says “It’s a time capsule of feelings & experiences from 2022-2024, it feels like reading your old diary, laughing and tearing up over a previous version of you.
Me and Diarmuid recorded the album last year over a cathartic two weeks in Kildare with Henry & Lile and in the Shandon shed with Cosmo. Doc makes music sound exactly like how it does in my head & I can’t thank him enough for all the work he did on the album.
One of favourite parts of making music is working with so many amazing artists, so honoured that my darling housemate Stephen Sorensen designed the vinyl with Paddy Critchleys beautiful painting as the album cover! It’s so special!”
