Avant-garde Dingle/Cork-based band Pinhole announce their upcoming shows in Cork and Dublin with their haunting, kaleidoscopic new single ‘Sweet Spot’. Pinhole play Cork’s Crane Lane on Thursday, 27th June, and tickets for their Sunday, 30th June show at Whelans Upstairs in Dublin are available here.
Pinhole say of the track: “‘Sweet Spot’ is essentially about the complexities of being human and the different forms of connection we make with each other. How good connections take thought, effort, and insight and are ultimately based on a motivation of care and responsibility, be they international diplomatic relations or simple parent-child relations. Sometimes we get it right, sometimes we get it wrong, the most important thing is we keep trying.”
Composed of Ciara O’Flynn, Mark McLoughlin and other transitory musicians, Pinhole brandish the alternative flag but deliberately skate over genre boundaries, with the result that they stand alone in their unique sound. They have been likened to a reinvented Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Bat for Lashes and Portishead, to name a few.
At the outbreak of Covid Pinhole were on the verge of releasing their debut album, and their song ‘Better Than One’ was RTÉ single of the week. The subsequent album launch and Irish/UK tour were canceled.
Pinhole’s first EP Between the Babies and the Birds was played extensively on 2FM, Today FM and Newstalk. Their music has been used in the RTÉ series Striking Out and Pinhole have appeared on the celebrated Other Voices TV series.
From delicate melodies to raw mayhem, Pinhole are ready to take you on a roller coaster journey of the senses.
