As South Arcade- release their debut EP ”2005” today, read our review here

It’s early 2000 and you just picked up some fresh threads from Asha which included that new Limp Biscuit T-shirt, new bottle of black nail varnish and a tasty A1 poster of your favourite band (Korn? Linking Park?).
You got your oversized jean shorts on with the silver chain rockin from the waist, whilst your favourite playlist is blaring into your ears in order to block out the losers who just don’t get it.

What a time to be alive LOL. But an interesting era of music and style no doubt.

South Arcade are bringing it back though and we are coming around full circle. For the generation that were too young to be fully submerged in this aesthetic of the time, well, now is your chance.R

Release their new EP ‘2005’, South Arcade are coming in strong with this 6-track banger. It may have taken me a while to understand what they were doing, but once I did, they totally had me.
Coming out of the box piping hot with the title track ‘2005’, straight away I’m thrown back to Hybrid Theory days. That iconic guitar sound that we heard on such tracks like ‘By Myself’ and ‘Forgotten’ by Linking Park with a
hard power chord stopped by a pinch harmonic to prick your ears and tighten the lip. Harry Winks is catching a moment in his playing.
And I am here for it.

‘How To Get Away With Murder’ is bringing it a little closer to our time with a big Royal Blood vibe but with a sneaky sound lying underneath that’s reminiscent of The Chemical Brother’s ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’ track. Harmony Cavelle looking like she’s right out of a No Doubt/Avril Lavigne video. The set up itself, in the official music video for this song, being in a tight boxed makeshift room made of monitors, I cant help but think of the Korn ‘Freak on
a leash’ video. Except we are swapping bullet holes for futuristic graphics crossed with a Scott Pilgrim side quest.

‘Stone Cold Summer’ is encapsulating everything from the 2000 era of music videos. Think Sum 41 ‘In too Deep’ swimming pool, fisheye lens, guitar solos in the pool. ‘Fat Lip’ in the sk8 park playing amongst their fans whilst
the skaters rip around. And Papa Roach ‘Last Resort’ again with the fisheye, surrounded by their fans.

The music video looks like it was shot on a potato in 4×4 which helps with that throwback and nostalgic feeling the band seems to be chasing.

Hailing from Oxford, UK. A city known for music, with such bands as Radiohead, Supergrass, Foals and Young Knives. The bands beginning started the same way as most from that area… University.

Taking elements from their favourite era of music, 1995 – 2005, the band quickly started to create a long list of tracks and hit the road touring the UK.

Looked after by Halestorm PR, South Arcane have been added to an incredible list of talent such as Linking Park, Mike Shinoda, Weezer, Fall Out Boy and many more. Now with their new EP ‘2005’ set to be released tomorrow, Friday 13th,

You can be sure they will be pulling into a venue near you.

Giving this EP 8 out of 10 stars. Nothing wrong with this record whatsoever.
