Ardú – Share New Mashup Single ‘Fool / Power Over Me’

Irish a cappella ensemble Ardú have released new mashup single ‘Fool / Power Over Me’ today.

The acclaimed six-piece vocal group recently appeared on The Voice UK, earning a chair turn from American artist and producer Will.i.am. The group successfully move into the Battle Rounds, with their next performance airing in early October (TBC) on Virgin Media One, Virgin Media Play, ITV1 and the ITVX player.

The group have also announced a co-headline tour with acclaimed British a capella group The Apex Singers, which kicks off next month.

Ardú’s new single is a mashup of two beloved contemporary Irish tracks: Mick Flannery’s ‘Fool’ and Dermot Kennedy’s ‘Power Over Me’.

The group explain:

“We wanted this track to spotlight Irish singer-songwriters. We love how the two songs work together so well, both musically and lyrically. Their messages are related – two sides of the same coin – exploring themes of love and vulnerability, and reflect both the highs and the lows that come with romantic relationships. There’s everything from a deep sense of longing and desire for connection, to a sense of admiration and enchantment.

Recording this track was a blast, it’s such an immense arrangement and has kind of an epic feel to it. It’s also super exciting to sing, and we can’t wait to debut it live at our shows in October!”

The group has previously shared the stage with Mick Flannery, most recently at The Songs of Leonard Cohen event with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in Dublin’s 3Arena. 

Kevin Sheedy, Ardú’s newest addition and a member of the MU Chamber Choir, has also shared the stage with Dermot Kennedy, backing the acclaimed singer during his Irish shows at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium and London’s O2 Arena.

The single is the first to be released from a soon-to-be-announced album arriving later this year.
