Anthony Family — the solo project from Anthony Anzaldo, best known for his work as the founding guitarist of Ceremony — has released their first full-length album, Live From An Ordinary Place, out now.
The record is a left turn for an artist known for post-punk but here a highly personal, emotionally complex sophisti-pop is the order of the day. “What you’re going to hear will be unfamiliar to you at first, if you are a fan of the other things I do,” he says. The album itself is something in which Anthony Family embraces his synaesthesia and can see each track as a colour and describes the album across a vivid spectrum.
“Soulless is soft teal. 101 North is bright black. Your Dress On Me is DNA burgandy. Sex In The Car; diamond yellow. (thirtyseven); transparent. Fine From A Distance; overcast seafoam. Overmorrow, grayish red. Nothing Something Everything Onemorething; pastel cream. Wander With Me; elderberry. I often hear in color. For me, that’s Ordinary. “
