5 Seconds of Summer / South Arcade – Everyone’s A Star world tour, live gallery and review from 3Arena Dublin 27.03.26

Following the roaring success of the opening night on the Everyone’s A Star World Tour in Belfast, Aussie superstars 5 Seconds of Summer made the short trip south to Dublin’s 3Arena on Friday night. The result? A chaotic, high-energy show that proved the Aussie-Irish connection is as strong as ever.
Returning with Everyone’s A Star, the band have embraced a darker, more polished sound – one that builds on the evolution we first saw all the way back in 2018 with Youngblood. Moving further away from their punk-leaning roots, the group now sit comfortably in a sleek, modern pop space. Paired with a bold neon aesthetic, the stage was set for a night that promised as much visually as it did sonically.

They wasted no time delivering. Set opener “NOT OK” kicked things off in style, with Luke, Callum, Ashton, and Michael initially appearing on-screen from inside a vintage prop car planted centre stage. As Luke began the first verse, split-G Guinness in hand… the band scrambled from the vehicle and into position, launching us straight into the explosive 5SOS production fans now come to expect.
With the setlist unchanged from Belfast the night prior, the momentum carried seamlessly into “No. 1 Obsession” and “Teeth” – the latter track proving once again why it thrives in a live setting. Its signature bassline and infectious hook had the entire arena locked in on the singalong, with barely a moment to catch breath as hit after hit followed. Nearly every track in the set boasted streaming numbers in the hundreds of millions… pop royalty.

A brief pause in the action gave way to some light-hearted banter as the band discussed how best to spend a day in Dublin. Frontman Luke Hemmings, aided by playful on-screen graphics, joked about pre-show drinks in The Brazen Head before encouraging the crowd to “embrace their inner Bono.” The response was, predictably, mixed… but all in good humour.
The throwback section of the set sparked a surge screaming from the upper tiers with “She’s Kinda Hot” igniting every long-time fan in the venue. One of the night’s standout moments came just before “Boyband,” when the group disappeared backstage, only for the arena to transform into a tongue-in-cheek awards ceremony. Featuring the band alongside two randomly selected audience members as nominees, the outcome was never in doubt. 5SOS “won,” returning to the stage in mock disbelief to accept their prize, much to the crowd’s equally sarcastic delight.

The stage design played a huge role throughout the night. A semi-circular runway extended deep into the arena, bringing the band closer to fans at the back. During “Telephone Busy,” Ashton surprised the crowd by appearing midway down the runway behind a full drum kit, instantly shifting the energy and turning the space into a dancefloor. The band remained out there for a few more until “Ghost Of You,” stripped-back moment where Luke’s vocals so often shine. On this occasion he was clearly quite emotionally taken a back in his delivery.
One of the most anticipated elements of the tour was the possibility of solo material, and the band delivered. Each member took a turn in the spotlight on the runway, performing one solo track apiece. Luke opened with “Starting Line,” followed by Ashton’s “Have U Found What UR Looking For?”, Callum’s “Don’t Forget You Love Me”, and Michael’s “enough”. Each turn offered a really unique glimpse into the individual artistry of each band member, especially to new fans.

While “She Looks So Perfect” was an obvious crowd-pleaser, “English Love Affair” arguably matched it in intensity and resonated particularly well with the Irish audience. Just when it seemed the band had nothing left to give, they returned for an encore that culminated in “Youngblood.” With over three billion streams to its name, it was a fitting and explosive closer.
If there were any doubts about the band’s longevity, this performance put them firmly to rest. 5 Seconds of Summer still have plenty left in the tank, and given their history with Irish crowds, it feels inevitable they’ll be back again soon. Judging by the volume inside the 3Arena, they’ll be welcomed with open arms.

Support on the night came from the ever-energetic Master Peace and South Arcade, both of whom set the tone perfectly for what followed.
